S.C.U.M: Release 'SIGNALS'

'Dreampop with menace' electro outfit S.C.U.M have announced a new project which they are planning to undertake over the course of 2009.

The gist of what they will be doing is, whilst travelling and performing all over Europe, they are going to be recording a series of songs relating to some of the cities they visit. Each song will be available for digital download, but only over a limited amount of time. The first of these, collectively entitled 'Signals', was recorded in Warsaw late last year and will be released on the 27th of April. It will be accompanied by a music video directed by Ivana Bobic.

The band will be touring the U.K over April and May.

She's Hit

SHE'S HIT

She's Hit are an unsigned Glaswegian band that sound, as their name and country's musical heritage might suggest, a little bit like a healthy amalgam of The Birthday Party and the Jesus and Mary Chain. From the demos they have on their Myspace it's plain to see that, just like their influences, they have the ability to focus both noise and melody into a heady mixture that is enough to overwhelm you into a black swoon. Their music stretches to incorporate surf/psychobilly influenced licks ('Black Transistor Nightmares') and staccato rhythms that echo other older Scottish bands such as Josef K or Orange Juice ('She Slips She Slides').

R O M A N C E: Limited Edition Release

London based new goths R O M A N C E are going to be selling an extremely limited run of special edition packs before their actual first release.

These packs (of which there are only going to be ten available) include:

a hand made, screen printed poster
a screen printed t-shirt and
a CD copy of their upcoming three track EP

It will be released on Friday the 17th of April and the only way to obtain a copy is to order, from the band themselves, over the internet. They will be emailing links to their mailing list and in bulletins from their myspace profile.

This Brooklyn based duo of brothers is one of the best new post-punk/shoegaze bands that I have heard in a long time. Their latest album "Freestyle Family" combines a mix of Superdrag and The Jesus & Mary Chain. Their dreamy guitar lines and tight drums really blast you off into a world of your own. You cannot afford to miss these guys.

The Horrors: Video of Dutch live performance

UK band The Horrors performed some of the songs from their forthcoming album, 'Primary Colours', live for a Dutch radio station on the 2nd of April 2009. The video can be found here. Their new album is out in Britain on May 4th and can be preordered from this website. It can be purchased either on vinyl or a CD that comes with a bonus disc containing a 'mix' of songs hand selected by band members Rhys Webb and Tom Furse.

MAGIC WANDS

If you are into dream pop/psychedelic love songs then you will not want to miss the majesty of the Magic Wands. This Los Angeles/Nashville based duo has only a handful of songs but will be sure to keep you wanting more. Americans can catch them over late April/May on their upcoming tour with The Horrors and The Kills.

AN EXPERIMENT ON A BIRD IN THE AIR PUMP
Named after an Enlightenment era oil painting, this trio bring together a wide array of influences (both musical and otherwise) to make incredibly dark yet soulful music. The minimalism of their bass/drums/vocals set up is devoured by their powerful voices and heavily distorted instruments. Their debut EP is a wonder to listen to and was one of the most promising thing I heard all last year.
